About me

In no particular order:

  • At 28 years old, I still do not know how to talk to girls. I am beginning to doubt that I ever will.
  • I believe that I have a talent for writing. I believe that if I was not so lazy, I could be even better.
  • My mother died when I was 10 years old. I worry that I don't remember as much about her as I should.
  • I believe that no dog should ever need to be carried. If it cannot walk there on its own, maybe it does not need to go.
  • I moved to the United Arab Emirates in 2006 after four long years living in the Concrete Kingdom of Swindon. I do not have much of a tan.
  • I believe that if you can't drive it, you shouldn't have it.
  • I have had three short stories published for negligible amounts of money.
  • I believe that there's very little finer than a bacon sandwich on a hangover morning.

Published Fiction

The Well, The Harrow, November 2006 [UPDATE]

" 'Nothing,' I said, sweeping aside a damp handful of leaves and dirt. 'I fell, that's all. Look at this.'
The cylinder was to the side of the path, and I had cleared a sizable rectangle around it. Small scratches marked my hands where I had tried to uncover some of the detritus underneath the bushes and brambles. I had gathered piles of mulch about myself, deepest around my knees where in my initial haste I had pulled it all towards me. My jeans were wet."

Curiosity, The Harrow, March 2006

"Before she knew who lived here, Becka assumed the residents had merely forgotten to take down their Christmas decorations. The outside of the house was simple, like any of the others in the row, yet behind the net curtains in each window and the frosted glass of the front door was the suggestion of colour and movement . . ."

He Missed the Sea, Flash Me Magazine, October 2003

"He missed the sea, so when he got the chance he would sit by the river on a bench by Marble Gate Bridge. It was a poor substitute, yet it still worked its own particular magic. It resonated within his blood and his heart soared for the joy of it . . ."
